Wabash Valley Youth Symphony

The Wabash Valley Youth Symphony ( WVYS) was founded in 2000. During this time frame, the symphony has provided 2,040 musically talented youth an opportunity to perform. Students must audition and are selected based on several criteria.

The Youth Symphony Fills a Need

WVYS fills a critical void in Greater Lafayette. Despite an abundance of musically talented youth, there is little opportunity  for orchestral or ensemble playing outside the realm of public school. In fact, only a few local schools offer an orchestral program for their students. WVYS provides an opportunity for those who play in a school orchestra, without a school orchestra or home educated to explore a repertoire that is more demanding and fulfilling.

Three free concerts are scheduled each year at the Long Center and attendance varies from 300 to 500.
